Brinkman assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's lackluster initial reveal last autumn.

Recently, the company's top executive a key figure notified staff about this decision through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had indicated the necessity for a clearer vision.

The president noted that the developers is now refining the project with a revised approach, aiming to better meet player expectations.

This announcement mirrors a comparable move taken by the publisher in the summer, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Previously I shared you all a message, I stated the following: “I am confident in this team. With your dedication and versatility, especially over the last year, you continue to prove that.

The community feedback from last fall’s the game testing phase was enlightening. It validated the potential of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had refinements needed. It uncovered the requirement for a sharper vision.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You took the feedback to heart and revamped Project ETHOS with a revitalized direction - one that’s ready to achieve its promise to our audience.

The belief in this project increases every day. To boost the remarkable progress you’ve made, It is a pleasure to welcome Ben Brinkman as the incoming Lead of 31st Union. Following several months of talks, Ben officially joins us on the specified date.

Ben’s guidance and experience in the PVP shooter space is extensive, having dedicated the last 15 years producing and overseeing some of the most well-known series in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, Apex Legends.

The appointee presently serves in the position of senior developer and head of production at Respawn Entertainment for their flagship title. He earlier was employed at Treyarch and Activision in multiple development positions on the Call of Duty series, and, earlier in his career, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.

Title Information and Concept

Project Ethos was announced in last year in conjunction with a community playtest. At the time, the developers portrayed the game as a "free-to-play, 3rd-person roguelike hero shooter and an innovative evolution on the genre."

"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Build your hero in real-time to suit your personal playstyle," the description states. "Challenge the opponents with new abilities, risks, and obstacles that evolve every round. Do you safely extract with your hard-earned loot? The game has not yet received an announced release date or consoles, but fans can anticipate further news as development progresses.
